Whether we are at work or at home, there are stressful situations that we cannot avoid. Like for instance, this season, we are facing the holiday rush. For this time of year, everyone is busy preparing foods, games, parties and a lot more. Whatever the situation may be, you should realize that the situation is difficult when we think it is. It is a matter of how we perceive it. What may seem difficult now will not seem difficult later. What may seem complicated to you may not be complicated to others.
Sometimes the most practical thing to do is to change whatever it is that triggers the situation to become difficult. Not that you should go overboard on this, but simple changes can do a lot, especially if they do not “cost” you a lot to change. Remember, not everything can be ignored, but by focusing on other things, some problems can bother you much less than you would think they could. Below are some points that you may put into consideration to help you handle and deal with complex situations.
- Do not overwhelm yourself. Try observing the whole scenario. Stressful situations usually come to us unguarded. Try to prioritize those that are necessary and put the rest aside for the meantime. Do not worry about the entire workload, instead handle each task as it comes or finish first those tasks which are truly important. Also, give yourself a break even a few minutes so that it is easier to work the day’s activities and avoid stress.
- Optimists have the way to go. You have a choice how to handle your complicated situation. You can be positive or you can be negative. Try to find the bright things in every situation life may bring. Do not let the situation change you, unless you change positively. Think of the incidents that will help you think how to cope with rather than how horrible things are going to be.
- Relax yourself best. As it is a stressful situation, may be it is not a busy one. So try to find time to best rest like doing your favorite hobby or watching movie. After that, it is more comfortable for you to face and manage such complicated situation. With that, you can decide to it calmly, and everything would be under control. After all, imagine what would happen to life if it is full of negative thoughts!
- Work it off. Stress is nothing but trouble. And if you let that to get inside your system, chances are, everything would mess up. Begin to manage the complicated situation by using it in a productive way. If you cannot remedy what is generating the stressful situation, try to go with the flow and work with it one at a time.
- Be grateful. In any and every situation that you encounter you will have emotional responses. Sometimes you may feel pain, sadness, disappointment, anger, frustration, shame or loneliness. You need to let yourself feel the emotions. But learn to laugh at situation no matter how bad they are. It is the golden rule that we have to remember: laughter is the best medicine. Not only for our heart and body, but is also benefited our way of thinking as well as acting and reacting.
It is a matter of how you put emotions to the situation. The more you think it is hard, the more it becomes complicated. Be resourceful and never give up when faced to these kinds of scenes. We all will find that difficult situations help us to grow as individuals. With that, self-actualization will be achieved.

It is the yuletide season once again! It is the time of the year many of us have been waiting for. The holidays are most of the time equated with presents, parties, and food, food, and more food!
On the downside, the holidays also mean lots of expenses, preparations, hectic schedules and food binges. People take down all inhibitions when this time comes, thinking this is the chance for them to be free and do as they please. Definitely, a time for treats!
But coming with this “enjoyment” are the unhealthy benefits of our holiday practices. Do we really want to see all our efforts throughout the year going down the drain? Will we be happy if we are going to see our stomachs bulging after all the holiday food trips?
Here are some ways to enjoy the holidays…and a healthier fitter body even after it!
Share your specialties.
You probably waited all the year long to make your specialties again. Although you have been waiting the whole year to indulge on it, you can give out some of your delicacies as personalized gifts to those closest to you.
Prepare just enough.
Prepare just enough dinner for the whole family, with maybe a little extra just in case some s guests come unexpectedly. Not only will you not be pushed to consume everything, you can also get save from lesser things to buy.
Choose the healthy and non-fattening ingredients/foods for your menu.
You can add up more vegetables in your menu to compliment your meat-heavy cuisines. And how about a fruit salad for that dessert instead of the usual sweet cakes and pastries? Sometimes theses healthier picks can also be less pricey than the usual holiday delicacies.
Go to friends’ and/or family’s homes – exercise!
Take time this season to visit the homes of some of the family and friends you did not get to see the whole year. You can also bring in the extra specialties you made so you will not be tempted to eat them yourself. Plus the travel can be a form of exercise that you will enjoy!
Less alcohol.
Do not get your self too drunk, or just practice social drinking at these times. Remember, you still have those friends and families to visit the next days. You would not want them to see you all wasted. And you do not want to miss that other party you always wanted to go to just because you are too drunk to drive, or even just to hail a cab!
Give to charity.
A fit body needs a fit heart. The best way to keep your heart healthy is to keep it happy. Try giving out to charities or an institution you feel needs your help the most. Helping could be as simples as giving them old clothes and stuffs, and a few groceries. The less fortunate will get Christmas gifts from you, but the happiness you know you have given them will be the best gift you can get.
Make a new year’s resolution!
This could be a cliché, but it would not hurt to try listing up those healthful New Year’s resolutions again. Since you have practiced a healthy lifestyle during the holiday season, it will not be hard to keep the momentum for the year ahead. Promise to, even gradually, cut out on those cigarettes. Eat salads and burgers, alternatively, for lunch during weekdays. Reduce those sodas and turn back to water. You will get to practice them too for the next holiday seasons!
These are practical ways by which you can stay healthy this holiday season, and at the same time enjoy it!

With the increasing awareness about the Greenhouse Effect, various environmental terminologies have been coined. One of the most popular terms these days is carbon footprint. But what does this mean?

When people speak of carbon footprints, they basically refer to the contributory Greenhouse gasses emitted by an individual or organization. It is also define as the carbon dioxide emission attributable to a particular individual within one year period. Often, this term is confused with ecological footprint. The latter term is more encompassing. It embraces the term carbon footprint. Basically, this latter term refers to the land and water that an individual requires to survive. You should consider placing rooftop gardens, water efficient fixtures and all other green features. Doing these things will eliminate or reduce carbon emissions.
Your carbon footprint can be further eliminated by adopting a more environmentally-friendly driving habits. Do not accelerate or decelerate when you don’t have to. Do not use your air conditioner or your car lights if you don’t need to.
