Not all applicants who come into job interviews know exactly what job they will be in until they are hired. That is a fact. They will not apply for a job if they do not have the knowledge and skills required in performing it more efficiently.

Oftentimes, what newly hired individuals possess are not the only skills needed in the job but also some other potentials that are necessary in being effective and successful. Adaptation into a new working environment, socially, mentally, and physically, is strenuous. Several things are to be considered: establishing good working relationship with fellow employees, accomplishing undertakings with self-fulfillment, and satisfaction at work. No work gets coordinated without somebody who is trained enough to accomplish it. This is the beginning of self-fulfillment and satisfaction at the workplace.

What do HR programs offer? What is their main purpose?

When talking about Human Resource Programs, it deals with the workforce or the people involved in any business organizations or firms. These programs focus on developing the capabilities of the personnel to enhance their job performance and bring efficiency and progress to the business. These programs are comprised of seminars, conferences, activities, exercises, and trainings.

Each has different impacts to learning but with a common goal of bringing improvement, effectiveness, and efficiency at work. So when we say HR programs, we mean developing people through good and rigid training.

Why training is essential?

The sole purpose of training, whether formal or informal, is to make the one being trained successful. When you do a poor job of training, time is wasted. Then there is the question of whether to retrain, possibly making you look silly, or of letting the poorly-trained employee stumble on his own.

In most cases, we ignore retraining and make use of the time and money as excuses. However, the truth is it will also cost you time and money repairing for the damage done by not training correctly in the first place.

In some cases, most managers would blame the employee for ‘not getting it’ than to admit they fail the job of training them.

With the philosophy that you should only train for success, there are three basic reasons for training: (1) the employee cannot do the job properly without it, (2) the employee can do the job but not well, and (3) the employee does the job incorrectly.

Here are practical tips in training your people:

1. Double your training budget for the next fiscal year.
2. Show and tell in every training session.
3. Determine whether training is necessary or the system needs to be changed.
4. Remember that training’s ultimate goal is success. Guard against other motives.
5. Accept responsibility for poor performers and do something about it now.

Training does not necessarily mean job perfection but both the business and the employees will benefit with training in effect. Effectiveness, doing the right things (job), and efficiency, doing things right (method), are healthy evidences of learning through training.

How do HR programs contribute to a successful career?

What HR programs can offer in obtaining a successful career is your feeling good about your work. Through development programs, you improve your knowledge, capabilities, talents, and skills; thus, these enhancement programs make you more confident, determined and fulfilled. Job performance usually dictates your working attitude. If you fail to give it a good shot, you may feel frustrated and embarrassed. If you do it right, you will definitely feel inspired and important.

Having a successful career depends primarily upon your attitude towards your work. Other indications of a successful career are having a stable job, earning salary enough to make a living, and good working condition and communication with co-employees.

With all these, I believe that each and every employee would succeed so as to meet and achieve all the goals of the company they are into. Good luck!
