The creations of Chef Anatoly Komm, a Russian chef, have completely taken the culinary world by storm. His restaurant’s, Varvari, recent addition into the top 100 best restaurants of the world, by San Pellegrino, has made them all the more popular to the gourmands, both in the country and abroad as well. Right now, the restaurant is at the 75th position, although it slid down a few places from the 66th last year.
Chef Komm was born on the 26th of January 1967 in Lubertsy, Moscow. He first took up geophysics when he went to college, and in the 1990s, he found work not only in the computer business but in the fashion industry as well. His involvement in the fashion industry took him across Europe, and during his stint in the fashion industry, he co-owned Hovik. He also became Koty’s president. Koty is a company that carries some of the most popular and most expensive brands in the world such as Versace, Ferre, Dolce & Gabbana, and many more.
However interesting and successful his career was in the business industry, he cannot let go of his favorite hobby, which is cooking. So in 2001, he opened Green, which was to be h is first restaurant. Needless to say that Green soon had its loyal diners, and it was this increasing demand for his cuisine that led him to open more restaurants.
Chef Komm’s cuisine is a very modern interpretation of the Russian cuisine. He is not afraid of making use of molecular gastronomy techniques to create highly innovative and ultra-modern versions of the traditional Russian cuisine. In fact, the Russian food critics are banking their hopes on the culinary skills of Chef Komm to make a name for the Russian cuisine in the international culinary world.
During his career as a chef, he has earned numerous awards. In fact, he has won the Alba White Truffle Award in 2008 and has been named as the top Chef of the Year by Piedmont, the gastronomic capital of Italy. Aside from this, in 2007, he has also won an award from the GQ magazine and has been named as the best restaurateur of the year. He has also received a Michelin star and was also included in the top 100 restaurants of S. Pellegrino. These are just some of the most notable awards and recognitions that Chef Komm has received
Right now, Chef Komm is in the forefront of revolutionizing Russian cuisine. He has made it his personal goal for the native dishes of his land to be recognized as something that is at par with cuisines like the French and Italian cuisine.
