The Wonder of Chef Phillippe Legendre

Le Cinq – it’s a restaurant that only few would dare to miss if they happen to be anywhere near Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris, France.
What Does It Offer?
This restaurant boasts of classic cuisines while still catering to modern palates. You will find fresh flowers brightening up the elegant room. The whole design resembles a classic French dining room. You will find Louis XV furniture and intricatedly designed china and silverware. The restaurant is majestically dressed in grey and gold.
Indeed, Le Cinq is truly spectacular. You will find a beautiful view of Four Season’s courtyard and garden. The menus are drawn upon classic cuisines; although there is a dash of modern cooking. Ingredients used are of the finest and freshest quality. One really “cool” thing about Le Cinq is that it also offers children’s menu – and a truly delicious food offering at that! How great is that?! It’s not surprising that it has been awarded two Michelin stars and it has won the 24th spot in S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants. It has been recognized for its excellent service, cuisine, atmosphere and quality.
The Genius Behind the Stove
Behind the stove of this Michelin star restaurant busily works Phillippe Legendre. Like all other culinary geniuses, Chef Legendre does not work with trends. He is not afraid to experiment on his own and create his own signature dishes. He continues to create innovative intepretations of various classical French cuisines.
A local of the Vendee region of north-western France, his first chef job was working as an apprentice at a local restaurant, Embruns. After gaining basic culinary knowledge, he then went on to work at some of the country’s – if not the world’s – best restaurants. He slaved away infront of the stoves of Tallievent, Lucas Carton and the Ritz. He exhibited a certain flair in cooking that is unique only to him. Such flair did not go unnoticed. Eventually, he found himself to be the recipient of Meilleur Ouvrier de France, an award that is only given to the finest culinary artisans in the country. Thereafter, he joined the kitchens of Le Cinq and became its executive chef. Under his guidance, the restaurant bagged its Michelin star in its first two months of operation. Within a year, the restaurant earned its second Michelin star; and in 2003, Le Cinq finally got its third star. This was not easy feat but Chef Legendre did it.
