Chefs Dieter Muller and Nils Henkel – Working Together towards the Top

The Restaurant Dieter Müller is actually one of the best – if not the best – restaurants in Germany. It opened its doors to the public in February 28, 1992 and since then it has managed to rank as one of the best restaurants in the world. In fact, it has grabbed the 76th spot in this year’s El Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. It has three Michelin stars, with the last star awarded in 1997. Of course, it boasts of many honors. Its chef, Dieter Muller was also named Chef of the Year by Der Feinschmecker in 1998. However, the highest distinction that the restaurant has ever earned was its 19 points award from Gault Millau. This was given to Dieter Muller in 2000.
Restaurant Dieter Muller offers a fusion of Mediterranean and classic French cuisine with a dash of Asian flavors. The latter provides the unique taste for which the restaurant is known for. The restaurant’s atmosphere greatly compliments every dish that comes out of the kitchen. One can choose to dine at the elegantly furnished and decorated winter garden or inside the private dining room. The former accommodates 40 seats while the latter sits 25 diners.
The Two Famous Chefs
Dieter Muller has managed the restaurant since it first opened its doors to the public. Obviously, he named the restaurant after himself. Nils Henkel took over as head chef in the spring of 2008. Since then, the two have managed to build an incredible partnership.
Dieter Muller is considered to be the country’s greatest chef. This is irrefutable considering that he is the first German chef to have received four Hauben from Gault Millau. He also possesses three stars from the Michelin Guide. Despite his accomplishments, he remained humble and modest.
His partner Nils Henkel is on his way to achieving great honors for himself. He had fairly practical reasons when he decided to pursue a career in culinary arts. Eventually, he found himself hooked. What may have started as a profession has soon blossomed into an almost religious vocation.
These are two chefs who are working together to bring Restaurant Dieter Muller to the pinnacles of culinary success. Perhaps, even oust Ferran Adria off the top spot. Both of them cook with intense passion. They know that without the “heart” a chef’s cooking will always taste bland. Needless to say, diners can expect only the best dishes from these two chefs and this classy German restaurant.
