How to Deal with Food Allergy

Food allergy becomes a worldwide problem because of continuous bad experiences of people eating food inappropriately. Symptoms that are mostly seen and felt are skin rashes, itchy nose and eyes, runny nose, wheezing, breathlessness, coughing, and swelling around the lips and mouth.
However, it seems that food allergy can be managed perfectly well. What you need is proper medical guidance and willingness to remain alert. Also, always carry with you some prescribed medics to help you treat such allergic reaction.
Lucky are those who do not have any allergy at all. But for those who are suffering with certain itchiness and sensitivity to food, there are numerous tips and pointers that you may consider in case of any food allergy attacks.
- Consult the expert. It is not enough that you ask people with the same food allergy like you. Remember that allergies differ from person to person; so, it is a case-to-case basis. Specifically, when you have multiple allergies, you need to go first to a doctor for appropriate medication to help you deal with them properly.
- Avoid the restricted food. Once you have consulted an allergy expert who can provide correct diagnosis of your allergy, avoidance of the causative food is very important. Along with this, also try blood testing and skin prick testing to investigate the symptoms more. In one or two years, such consistent and consecutive avoidance to food allergens eliminates clinical symptoms of allergy.
- Have your own sets of meal. The most commonly used treatment for people who have food allergy are special diets. These specific meals are simply food allergens free. Most allergic people prepare food themselves where the offending foods are eliminated. This is the least thing you can do to avoid and not experience symptoms of allergy.
- Always check the label. There are certain food items, which seem not to have that allergy causing food but actually there is. So, be careful to look at them and check them out every time you buy. Also, ensure that the food is clean and safe to eat, whether raw or cooked.
- Take vitamin C. Research shows that Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. Vitamin C helps stabilize cells so they are less likely to release these substances. Citrus fruits, which are rich in such vitamin, must be included in your diet to help stop allergenic reaction.
- Boost your immune system. The immune system is the catch-all term for the various bodily systems that act to fight against disease and toxins. These include the white blood cells, or leukocytes; the skin and mucous membranes that act as physical barriers to germs; and the bone marrow and spleen that produce disease fighting cells called antibodies. When the body is exposed to germs, the immune system produces antibodies to the specific germs (or antigens) it was exposed to in order to fight them off in the future. These antibodies bind to antigens to attack them.
- Medication is a must-have. Doctors prescribe a lot of medicine suitable with each allergy. If you have to take some medication regularly, more or less you will follow it before allergy attacks. Keep it always with you so in case of unintentional intake of food allergens, at least you are prepared.
There are so many things that can help you eliminate, or at least avoid, your food allergy. Take this seriously for it can be fatal. Still, enjoy life even if you are advice not to eat certain food especially to those craving ones! After all, there would be changes and who might know, your allergies may flew away.
