Ready or not, the holidays are almost here. Are you taking on too much? Busy schedules are off your way now, chefs! Certainly, a hassle-free work time is a productive and joyful working schedule. At the end of the day, you would not feel tired and all. It is fun when you get yourself through a hectic schedule and find yourself enjoying your job. How do you do it? Well, let us see.
It is the holiday season that is coming. Everyone is going to get busy. There are parties, celebrations, festivities, and reservations all over the town. Food is inevitable at this moment. In addition, here comes the in demand work for chefs! What we see here is an eventful days ahead for people like you. With this, I tried to find some simple tips on how you can get over this year’s hectic working schedule.
- Get help from a checklist. It sounds petty sometimes, but do believe me, a simple checklist lessens the burden of a frenzy schedule for busy people. In a get-it-done society, sometimes you need a helper to make sure you do not forget something. Checklists are very valuable if you already know how to do your task. In another way, a to-do list or note taking may help you in reminding your scheduled works.
- Flex your brain. Do two things at a time. If you can beat it, try three or more, and that would be a lot better. However, see to it that it would not mess after all. Anytime you do something mechanically, it has been a good time to multitask because it may boost memory muscles. The more things you can do, the better your brain to recall. By then, it is more efficient to work on another job especially if you are getting used to it.
- Do not handle tricky jobs in a row. There are tasks, which usually require all your attention in order to be done well, say for instance, preparing menus for VIPs. In fact, some researchers found that people who switch gears during complex or unfamiliar tasks take significantly longer to finish than when they work on each separately. So be careful on these duties for it entails a big responsibility on your part, chefs.
- Mind your priorities. Pinpoint those important works to do. Since it is indeed a busy working schedule, it is just fair that you give significant time and effort to necessary commitments you have. Rather than doing all the works aligned in your to-do list, try to weigh them and see what should be done first. If a certain job turns you on, you would be good at it and finish it in no time; if it does not, you would never do.
- Give yourself a break. In spite of in demand timetable of yours, make sure that you still have time to rest and reorganize your stuff. Bear in mind that if you focus so well on the projects that matter, the ones that are less important may be left undone. Ask yourself –Have I carried out my priorities? What about the other commitments that I engage myself with? Try to consider other tasks after the important ones are finished. After all, it is your obligation to accomplish them all.
You should be reminded that you are not given tasks you cannot handle. Everything would be according to plan if you work on it properly. Panic has no place for these.
Another thing, be grateful to those who help you in your way to deliver your jobs properly. It does not have to be a grand act. A simple appreciation will do. Showing gratitude is the essence of the holiday seasons, by the way.
