There are people that are patronizing traditionally grown foods while there are an increasing number of people that prefer organic foods. Perhaps, it is worth your while to compare organic food versus traditionally grown food.
How Are They Grown
Many traditionally grown foods available in the market or your grocery stores are foods that are heavily processed. The roots and seeds of these products have been genetically engineered or irradiated in order to promote faster plant growth. Many of these products have been grown using fertilizers and pesticides. It is only after they are harvested and refined that their manufacturers will add nutrients to these products. They will then be boxed for delivery.
Comparing the processes of raising organic food versus traditionally grown food, you will be amazed by the vast difference in methodologies. First of all, organic products are grown without using pesticides, fertilizers, genetic engineering and irradiation. So, if you purchase organic meat products, you wouldn’t have to worry about cows injected with growth hormones. It is not easy for farmers to plant, grow and produce organic products. There are strict requirements that farmers need to comply with in order to produce organic food products.
Organic Food versus Traditionally Grown Food – Which is Better?
What you have to understand is that organic food products are not automatically the better food. The organic word emblazoned in a product’s packaging does not automatically mean that it is a better and healthier alternative. In fact, there are organic products that may be considerably rich in sugar, calories, fat or salt. This is why it is advisable that you first check on the bottle labels before you actually purchase any organic product.
Organic foods are better in terms of nutrition, quality, appearance and even taste. The only drawback to organic food versus traditionally grown food is that the former is more expensive. In fact, they cost almost twice as much as their conventional food counterpart. This is because they are difficult to grow and often the farmer may need to pay higher labor cost. If you can, however, afford purchasing organic food and products, then do so. After all, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
