Our busy schedules have left us with not much time to think about what we eat. It is either we eat the most accessible foods there are or we forget to eat at all! Even more regrettable is that these easy to get foods are mostly the unhealthy ones. Most of the time, we just try to satisfy our tummies, but not our health. Fortunately, you can still maintain your balanced diet yet satisfy your taste buds with these simple regimens.
- Plan ahead
Do not store too much food. Especially avoid unhealthy and high calorie snacks. Just always keep nutritious food in your refrigerator such as fruits and vegetables, salad, whole grain crackers, and cheese.
- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are good example of fiber foods which satisfy your hunger and will keep you feeling full until lunch time. Moreover, their fiber content helps you take out your body toxins and promote more regular bowel movement. You can also get different vitamins and minerals out of eating fruits and vegetables just like vitamin A, B, and C.
- Do not skip breakfast
Have a healthy breakfast every Saturday and Sunday morning. Eat a lot of proteins. Protein foods make your body firm. They give your muscles size and shape. Proteins foods include meats, fish, eggs and poultry products. Beans are protein substitute if you are a vegetarian.
- Treat yourself
Give yourself little treats. Maybe you can have a piece of cake, a scoop of ice cream or a small piece of chocolate. Anyway, these dairy products provide calcium and bone building nutrients which is vitamin D. You can also get Vitamin D from drinking milk and being out in the sun. Other examples of dairy foods are low fat milk, yogurt, reduced fat cheese, and low fat sugar free ice cream.
- Eat a little amount of food when you go to the restaurant.
Restaurants usually serve large menus. Just choose a soup and a salad, or a salad and an appetizer for your meal. If you order a large menu just take home half of it.
- Have a set of meal or record your daily menus.
In order for you to maintain your daily diet, you must have a diary for your meal everyday. Choose foods that are healthy and suitable to your taste. Make sure that the food you choose each day compliment each other. Maintain a balanced diet each meal. Never forget those carbohydrates for they will give you the energy you need to go through your daily activities.
- Eat fats!
We all know that fats are bad in our health but some are good for us. They should still be a part of our diet because they are good sources of energy. Sources of good fat are nuts and seeds, olive oil, reduced fat salad dressing and reduced fat peanut butter. Just always remember to take them in moderation.
- Take lots of water.
With our busy everyday schedules at work, we sometimes do not even have time to stop and drink water. Or we more often end up drinking coffee to keep us alert. But drinking water is one of the most essential things in our diet. Replenish your cells by drinking lots of it.
Keeping fit can be as easy as following these steps. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle the whole week will ensure you that you reap the benefits of your healthy habits sooner than later. And yet you can still enjoy the foods you eat. Indeed you satisfy your health by satisfying your tummies!
