Panic in the Kitchen

Better lifestyle? Who would refuse to that kind of offer, but how do we know whether a chef’s lifestyle is better than that of the other? Are you comfortable with your lifestyle as a chef? If not, how can you find the comfort? Where will you begin to change your life? Moreover, when? These are the questions chefs or even ordinary people ask in themselves.

To have a better lifestyle, a person must look at his or her future. If you are not yet a chef then dream of being the best chef. Do the things that can help you become the best chef; try to excel and aim high. Well, if you are merely an apprentice, a practitioner or a student, you must realize that having the basic skills in cooking is not enough. You must know that in any career, you must have the capabilities, the character and the heart for the work. Honestly, what I am just trying to say is that a better lifestyle begins with the dreaming and preparation a person undergo.

If you are currently attending a culinary school, be sure that after obtaining the diploma, you will be attending an apprenticeship program. Maybe now you are starting to wonder why, isn’t it? Practically speaking, experience is still the best teacher, graduating in a culinary school is just an introduction or a preparation to a larger real life. In school, you will just learn the standards of cooking like a chef, but in an apprenticeship program, you will be able to discover in your own ways on how to do them effectively and efficiently. Do not apply for a job you do not know. In the world of chefs, patience, determination and excellence are necessary.

Unlike in culinary schools, apprentices are not directly taught how to be good chefs; they must figure it out on their own. Apprentices are most likely to have opportunities of seeing how real chefs work, how to select the right ingredients, how to manage the kitchen staff, to manage the time, and the way to cook. An apprentice is often in the kitchen and therefore sees how chefs work on their way.

By that time, apprentice may think of his or her own way to cook and try to apply it. If ever, a student who had just graduated from a culinary school applies being a chef immediately. He will be the kind of chef who is stereotype. Apprentices also have the chance to learn camaraderie from their fellow practitioners. Be an apprentice first and learn new things in so many ways.

If ever you are now a chef and you cant get the past back, there are ways still. Our future can be fulfilling by what we are doing now in present times. It is not always late for a change. Well, better to start off with yourself. To be a good chef, one must learn patience because being a chef is starting to accept pressure as a part of life. Learn to enjoy the work; this will help you to continue harmoniously. Find time management and discovering dishes the most exciting part of this job.

Be observant, open-minded, and curious. Learn that there are different ways to cook and there are many ways to make a dish delicious. Try to watch other chefs and never be afraid to ask them a question. If they do not lend you an answer then find a way to discover. Find to make your dish better than anybody else’s.

Be creative; let your mind explore innovative ways to make your dishes taste good and palatable. Read books on how to garnish, criticize, and make it your own ways.

More so, learn to love yourself. Take a rest even for a while. Make yourself look good at all times. In short, make yourself as presentable as possible.

To be able to attain a better chef lifestyle; learn how to enjoy your job then everything else will follow. Learn that to be the best; you do not have to compete with the other chef. You just have to compete with yourself. Learn that there are many ways to achieve your goal, you just have to look for them and you need not to be afraid. With all these, better chef lifestyle awaits you definitely.
