So far this latest swine flu has killed 60 people and is possibly pandemic. A World Health Organization spokesperson said that seven human cases have been found and confirmed in the United States.

The Mexican authorities has already moved to close the schools and other establishments in the area. Meanwhile, the WHO has deployed personnel to study the illness and its pandemic potential.

Up to this day, there are 800 cases of flu-like symptoms, with 57 deaths in the Mexico City area.

Adjunct Professor of Food Law at Deakin University, Professor Lederman suggested that food industry suppliers and retailers should all immediately re-think their deployment of food supply chains and adjusting everyone to a possible pandemic scenario.

The difference between this strain of flu is that it is closer to human DNA because it came from a mammal.

In 1976 and 1988 human outbreaks of swine influenza was detected in the United States. 3 deaths occurred during contact with pigs.
