Good nutrients can also be gained during snack time and it can be an extra source for our daily intake of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and cereal grains.


Healthy snacks also cost very little compared to process junk foods that has next to zero nutrients. Healthy snacks, when combined with good nutrition, diet, and exercise will surely lead to a healthy body and an improved well-being.

Here are 5 ideas for snacks that are suitable for children and office workers alike.

Cheese and crackers is a great snack on the go. It is a great snack after dinner. Remember that cheese contains a good amount of calcium and crackers contain whole grains that are great for dieters and weight watchers aching for that extra fiber kick.

Dried banana chips. Dried banana chips can be consumed after it has been fried in coconut oil and coated in honey. Bananas have high levels of vitamin A and C. They are a great source of potassium. Banana chips can often be found included in muesli. Great for a carbohydrate boost after a half-day of work at school or in the office.

Hummus in pita bread. Hummus is made from dried chickpeas, garlic and some of the time, tahini. Hummus is a good source to get fiber and iron; tahini is made from sesame seeds where you can get high calcium.

Fruit salad. You can mix and match any of your favorite fruits in this snack such as kiwi fruit, apples, pear, and nectarines. This kind of snack food will help you towards your five a day of fruit and vegetables.

Whole meal bread made into an avocado and cheese sandwich. Avocado is high in vitamin E and C as well as containing a healthy amount of fiber and potassium. Avocado also contains folic acid, an important vitamin for pregnant women. While cheese has high levels of calcium and whole meal bread is high in fiber.

If you want to live healthy, then don’t waste your time eating junk food during snack time. Get a healthy snack by combining whole grain, fruit, vegetables, and cheese. Who said that a healthy snack can be boring?
