Nowadays, being a chef, a cook or any posts related to that craft has become so in demand. With this impact, many students, young individuals and yuppies aspire or are encouraged to take a complete course on hotel and restaurant management.
However, in this epoch of work uncertainty and unpredictable economic condition, it is truly a challenge to conclude if the field of expertise that you have chosen could turn into a lifetime career. It may be through having a stable monthly salary, getting promotions, experiencing satisfaction at work, or the most, catching them all – one great, fulfilling package.
Since you are a chef or a cook in a certain food establishment, you have all the competence, resources and potential to achieve a successful and lucrative career. When you make food lovers contented and delighted with what you have served them, happiness and satisfaction also get back on you.
Happiness, contentment and satisfaction are the three most important keys for a professional to say that he is really a successful working individual. Nevertheless, we should always remember that these can never be attained and are never easy to acquire.
In reality, aspiring chefs and other professionals often have this question in mind: “How can I turn my job right now to a lifetime career?”
Based on my own experiences and through professional reading, I have found these ways effective in transforming our current jobs to a lifetime career.
- Establish a career mission statement. Put into writing your reasons, plans and vision. Knowing what you really want and what can make you truly happy can be helpful.
- Create a list of your own long-term plan. Specify and discuss your desired position as well as your financial and professional status for each year. This helps you identify what kind of lifestyle you want to achieve. Thus, make it flexible so you can still adjust it for new endeavors, challenges and undertakings.
- Realize where you want to be tomorrow. Your career is a combination of good education, right decisions, inevitable circumstances and challenging experiences.
On the other side, bear in mind that there are still many ways of attaining success, apart from getting a more stable income and consistent promotions.
Be certain to choose a career that can make you excel, happier, fulfilled and successful.
